Jenny and Nicole's podcast keeps climbing the charts. It's now in the "Highlights" box in the main Podcasts category. Way to go, ladies! Yea!
I've posted a special Vox banner for today, handcrafted just for my lovely wife. I love you, Jenny. I'm so lucky you're my Valentine.
I'm pretty psyched, but not the least bit surprised, that my wife Jenny and friend Nicole have started a podcast (about knitting) that has been out about 5 days and is already climbing the iTunes charts, listened to and beloved by more people than read all my own blogs and blogging projects put together, and basically just kicks all kinds of ass. They are so great at all aspects of it -- from the planning, the recording, the editing, the show notes, to just being the kind of people you enjoy listening to for a half hour. If you are into knitting (or even if you're not), I highly (and biasedly) recommend it.
(And, oh yeah, all of these blogs are on TypePad. Jenny and Nic have taken baby steps on Vox, but they're pretty dedicated to TypePad. We may have to cajole them to post over here more often.)
This past Friday, Jenny, who has been working on her MSN in Nursing for the past two-and-a-half years, got her degree from San Francisco State University. In the terminology of academia, she was "pinned" and "hooded," which means she got a pin signifying a Nursing degree and a hood for getting her Master's. She also received "honor cords" in recognition of being admitted to the Nursing Honor Society (Sigma Theta Tau). All in all, it was a nice little ceremony, and Jenny was really happy that her sister, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, and in-laws could attend to support her.
It's been a long road to get this far (including a year of pre-requisites) and I'm really proud of how Jenny managed to cope with the workload, the stress, and still find time for her friends, her family, her cats, her knitting, and to generally be the coolest person I know. If you asked her, she'd probably give all the credit to others, including her friend Robyn (who also graduated on Friday, with honors), and even me, her husband, but the fact of the matter is she's done more for us over the last three years then we've done for her. So, it's with a ton of pride and love that I share this silly graduation video with the world:
Jenny, knitting prodigy, just put up a Flickr set of her "finished objects." I think she undercounted, but most of them are in there. I don't think I've finished 70+ things in my entire life, except meals. What an achiever!
My wife, Jenny, who will hopefully join the alpha test soon, just passed her nursing boards, which means she's officially an R.N., which means I can officially become bed-ridden, which means we are going out to Bocadillos tonight to celebrate. In the words of Samuel Taylor Coleridge: "Whoo hoooooo! PARTY!"
