The Saddest Walk Ever

It was really a horrible shock to read this note, tacked to a pole near the Esmerelda stairs on Bernal Hill. One of the two owls that we'd come of look forward to seeing on our morning walks was found dead last night. A lot of the folks on the hill, walking their dogs, seemed to be talking about it. Apparently, they are hoping for an owl autopsy to rule out a sinister cause of death. Whatever the case, it's incredibly sad to think that we might not get to see these beautiful birds in our neighborhood ever again. Sigh.

I took my camera up the hill this morning to try to improve on my cameraphone shot from yesterday, but I was one day too late. Here are some great photos of the owls from Art Siegel.
